Consultations

Consultations are meetings with the gastroenterologist to discuss your health concerns.

An initial consultation typically takes half an hour where your health concerns are identified. Information is also collected on your medical background, medications and previous investigations. A brief examination is performed. A problem list is then made and relevant investigations are organised often including an endoscopic procedure. Relevant advice and a treatment plan is discussed with you and a summary of all of this sent to your referring doctor.

A follow up consultation may be required afer an endoscopic examination or other investigations. These are shorter and involve discussion around results from investigations, diagnosis and management plans. For complex problems more than one follow up consultation may be required.

Consultations are held at a range of locations so please check your appointment time and location prior to leaving. A courtesy phone call or sms is sent 24 hrs prior to remind you of the time and location.

Costs vary according to the complexity of your problem list and a range will be given to you when you call to book your appointment.

A "prep-kit" appointment is performed by the DDQ nurse. This appointment is required if you are coming directly from your referring doctor for a colonoscopy. A short medical history is taken  including a medication list. The consultation fee includes the bowel preparation medication and detailed instruction sheets.
